We won!

This last week was the AVN Adult Novelty Expo, which partnered up with the International Lingerie Show, giving buyers a more well-rounded show because of more pleasure products companies being present. 3 days of meeting with current customers and making new ones and putting faces to the names in my emails and phone calls.

Plus, it's just nice to see the industry folks again. It's definitely like a summer camp.

The "O" Awards was on Tuesday night and check THIS out:

We won 2 awards! Kandi Kisses won the award for Outstanding Debut Product and then Club Vibe 2.OH won for Outstanding Product for Women!

And since both Brian and Suki couldn't make it to the show this time, I had to accept the awards for us. Heh, heh. I tried not to make too much of a fool out of myself.

It's so awesome to be recognized since we're surrounded by so many great companies out there! Our retailers and distributors have done such an awesome job getting our products into people's hands and we definitely couldn't have done it without them.

And of course, AVN has always been such a great supporter. I've always known them to be, even before I started working with OhMiBod.

I'll post more about the show in another post. I just wanted to toot our horns a little bit. :-p

njoy at AVN

So of course I had to stop by and visit with the njoy folks and pay homage to the "n eleven"...

njoy makes some really quality pieces.  If you don't have stainless steel,  I highly recommend that you try one of their pieces.  I have the "n eleven", "Pure Wand", and "Fun Wand", which is in the bottom right pic.

Who won an AVN Award?

We did!

So last weekend, OhMiBod won the 2012 AVN Award for "Best Overall Sex Toy Line" for Bedroom Kandi!  Pretty sweet, huh? I'm stoked about it.

Kinda wished they presented novelty awards at the awards show too so that I could accept the award for us.  *sigh*

I hope you've had a chance to check out the pieces.

I admit, the Kandi Kisses travels with me quite a bit. ;-)

AVN AEE/ANE

I'm getting more and more excited about the upcoming AVN Adult Entertainment Expo/Adult Novelty Expo (AEE/ANE)!

This time everything is being held at the Hard Rock, so no having to try to get to the Palms for the Awards if I want to go.

I can't wait to see what else is new in the world of pleasure products since I didn't go to ILS this week and I can't go to Venus in Berlin.  It doesn't make sense for me to go to those just to scope out products, ya know?  If I'm more involved within the industry, then it would make sense.  So for now, it's the AEE/ANE in January and ANE in the summer.

Either way, I'm super-excited!

At the AVN Novelty Expo "O" Awards

Here I am at the AVN Novelty Expo "O" Awards with Frankie from Radio Dentata and Sherrie from AVN.

Franki and I both presented awards.  I presented the award for Outstanding Lingerie or Accessory Brand -- Hustler Lingerie won. :-)

Papaya just chilling out...

Cruising thru the AVN Novelty Expo this year, I stopped by the Papaya Toys booth and found one of their pieces just hanging out in this gorgeous bowl.

Damn, I love waterproof toys!

A New Innovation

One of the products that stands out to me from this year's AVN Novelty Expo would have to be "Ola" from Minna Life, hailing from San Francisco.  This little pleasure object is an innovative product I haven't seen yet.

That top end you see in the photo is actually "squeeze-responsive" -- the harder you squeeze the silicone bulb, the more intense the vibration.  Yep.  The bulb responds even to a light squeeze.  What makes this even better is that you can also record your favorite vibrational patterns so you can lock the pattern in without worrying about how much you squeeze the bulb.  So basically, you get to make a customized vibrational mode with this product.

Ola is silicone, waterproof, and rechargeable.  Both ends are insertable so the user gets to play around with either the firm end or the softer end.  I can tell you that this toy does have a wonderfully smooth touch to it.  I had trouble letting it go.  In fact, I kept trying to steal it, though doing it right in front of the men behind the company didn't help me get away with it. :-p

Ola is available in the purple you see in the photo and pink.  Ola also isn't available to buy just yet either, but good news is that Babeland will have it exclusively for the month of August with a retail of approximately $165.  After that, it will be available elsewhere.  So you will be able to get your hands on this gorgeous piece in just a few weeks.

I waaaaaant!   Ya know, for research purposes of course.  Anyone wanna send me one?  ;-)

Arrival night at ANE 2011

I arrived at LAX around noon yesterday for the AVN Novelty Show, where I got to meet Radio Dentata and Shellie from Crystal Delights Toys for the first time after tweeting back and forth.

After Papaya Pam picked us up and drove thru the insane LA traffic, we were at the Pasadena Sheraton, right next to the Convention Center.

We hit up the exhibition hall where booth set up was happening, grabbed lunch, and back to the booths we went. It's always great to see familiar faces as they come in cuz to me, it's like summer camp. And then to see the booth set-up process that people go thru, it's pretty cool.

Here are some of Crystal Delights Toys' pieces. Aren't they gorgeous?

Our evening ended with just over 3 hours of gift bag assembly for the "O" Awards Post-Party, hosted by Papaya Toys, 300 gift bags looks a little like this...

ANE 2011

So it's official... I'll be attending the AVN Adult Novelty Expo in Pasadena!  Flight is booked and I have floor space to crash on.  I can't believe I'm going!  But I've decided that I have to be there.

I attended last year's event (that whole car accident right before I had to drive to Miami. yes, drive) and it was an eye-opener because I met some amazing people behind some of the brands that For Your Pleasure carries, made some great connections, saw some awesome products, and learned a ton.

This year's event is going to be different.  They've invited reviewers, bloggers, sex educators and the like to come out and mingle with the manufacturers and such.  I'm so happy.

It's great that people understand how important folks on the frontlines play a big role in getting those products sold.  These are folks who talk.  We learn about the materials and soak in other information so we can go out there and TALK about products the manufacturers are coming out with.  I feel as if the public wants to be more educated about what they're putting on and in their bodies and that's where we come into play.

I think that the better educated my customers are, the more empowered they are.  They'll be able to select a product a little easier... or at least narrow it down.  I'm here to help them.  I like to say that I'm like a personal shopper for toys instead of clothes.

Of course I'd love it if every customer would buy the $150 toy, but if in all honesty, it's not the best product for them from what they tell me they're looking for, I'll help them select something else.  And when they're happy with the first piece, they'll come back for that $150 toy.  I don't want my customers wasting money on something they'll never use and/or get pleasure from.  I'm in the business of pleasure and I want them to be happy.

So anyway, I'm looking forward to meeting some of the awesome sex educators I've heard about and sharing some great information while I soak in what I can.  The seminars are looking pretty sweet!

And, I'm feeling really grateful that there are folks who are excited that I've decided to come out.  It's nice to be wanted, ya know?

AVN ANE/AEE Expo

Tuesday morning I returned on the red eye from my first trip to the AVN ANE/AEE Show. If you don't know what that is, it's the Adult Video News' Adult Novelty Expo and Adult Entertainment Expo. Yeah, that's a lot to say. Many folks refer to it as the "Porn Convention".

It was a long ride home, but I'm home and I can say that I ran straight to my bed and collapsed for a few hours. Hotel beds can be so nice, but there's nothing like my own bed.

On my flight out, I had a connection in Philly and apparently more than half of the people on the plane were on their way to CES. I felt like I was the only one going to the AVN, sitting between two guys who had their laptops out and were connected to the plane's Wi-Fi.

I'd attended the Novelty Expo in Florida back in August and knew that THIS was the event to attend so I could see the people I had met in Florida again and to see what else is new in the novelty world.

So lemme tell you that this place was a mad house! I was fortunate enough to have an exhibitor's badge so I was able to get in during the trade days and hit up the AEE side before the fans had access. I'd jump back and forth between the trade side and the AEE side. When it got too crazy on the AEE side, I'd be back at the trade side where there was more of a sense of calm.

Some things I saw:
-- met Je Joue's newest additions to their product line -- Mimi and Ami. I now have my own and I'm excited to try them so I can post my reviews. I can say that Mimi is definitely small and mighty. The more I held her, the more I liked her.

-- visited the guys at the Toyfriend booth. They were brave enough to have their booth on the AEE side. I have a feeling that they found lots of new fans because Toyfriends were flying off their shelves! Yay! If you haven't seen them yet, check out their site and you'll see how fun the line is! My favorite Toyfriend is "Coney", by the way.

-- of course checked out the OhMiBod booth since they were right across from Je Joue. Their newest addition, the Freestyle G was there for me to check out, along with the app they just released, "Body Heat". It lets someone control an OhMiBod using their iPhone, iPod or iPad. Check it out. I have it and it's pretty sweet! Jay Leno even mentioned the app on his show Friday night because he heard that they were at CES! Yep, OhMiBod decided to play with the "big boys" and set up another booth at CES this year! I hear they were the talk of the show, too. I'm guessing CES doesn't get a lot of vibrators there. ;-)
-- went around the corner to njoy's booth and got to see some prototypes that Greg had up his sleeve. I'm pretty excited about them!

-- checked out the newest flavors that Sliquid came out with for their "Swirl" line. Strawberry Pomegranate is my new favorite! Pink Lemonade is pretty good, too....

-- got to touch LELO's newest line -- "Insignia". They're waterproof and really beautiful. That's a line I hope we pick up.
-- met NINA HARTLEY!!! Yay! She was so awesome! I think I was most excited about meeting her. She's been such an inspiration to me. I have her book and I refer to it quite a bit. When we first met, she asked me if I ever got annoyed with people trying to pick me all of the time because of my small stature. We then talked about my work and she asked if they take me seriously because I look younger than I am. I explained that because I'm in a college town, the girls relate to me a bit easier, but yes, sometimes people don't treat me seriously because I'm "cute". But she had words of encouragement for me as well. Telling me to keep doing what I do.
I didn't know anything about her health issues until after I got back from the trip.
If you would like to help Nina out, please follow this link. I've made my donation. :-)

I even checked out the Liberator booth quite a few times during the show. I couldn't help but fondle the Amore Rocker... it just felt soooo nice. And then I set in their Cello... OMG. I waaaaaaaant!

Hanging out at the Liberator booth was Angel Vain, who was on hand for fan photos and autographs. She was fun to chat with and to take pics with towards the end of a long last day.

This trip showed me some new products to keep an eye out for. I learned so much because I actually went to most of the seminars that were available. :-p

Seeing the folks I met at the last expo in Florida was kind of like when you went back to summer camp and ran into old friends. It was so great to sit and chat away from the madness of the show.

Who knows what opportunities lay ahead in the future for me. But I can't wait to sling some of this stuff too! Hope FYP will pick up the favorites that I've seen at this show! :-)

AVN Expo

I recently had the opportunity to attend the AVN Trade Show in Hollywood, FL and it was an unforgettable experience! For someone like me, who loves to learn as much as possible about products and the brands that make them, it was heaven! I was able to meet the people behind the creations of some of my favorite toys and I'll always remember that.

Driving over 20 hours alone to get there... And yes, not even 36 hours after I got into a car accident. Nothing was getting in my way! I admit, I toyed with the idea after I received the invitation. Could I really afford to go? Could I really afford NOT to go? I decided I couldn't afford not to go. And when I have a friend offering me a place to crash while I was there, my rental car and I were on our way!

It was a weekend of networking, learning, and meeting amazing people.

I got to chat with the folks from OhMiBod, LELO, njoy, and Je Joue. Oooh, totally got to meet the man who designed SaSi!!! Holy cow!!! I can't even tell you how many times I thanked him for creating her! So now I'm excited to try out my own "G-Ki" since it won the award for Overall Design for Women. I'll let you know what I think when I do... ;-)

Seriously, why wouldn't I want to tap into their brains a little more? I was given the opportunity and I took it!

There were brands there that I'd never heard of but got to know and hope you will get to know them soon, including Tickler who makes the awesomely cute "Toyfriend" toys and Laid with their pretty sweet looking designs.

The "O" Awards also took place over the weekend.

Nominees included njoy, OhMiBod, Je Joue, LELO and Shunga. So awesome!!! Cuz we carry them!! :-)

A few winners were Je Joue, LELO, and Shunga. The rest of the winners can be found here.

I may have to check out another expo....
